Description

From nouns and verbs to punctuation and capitalization, these easy-to-use, scripted lessons will give your child a solid foundation in grammar and clear communication.

NOTE: In Level 1 and Level 2, student responses are primarily oral and require only this one teacher’s book each. Students don’t need any books for Levels 1 or 2; only the teacher needs one. Level 3 and Level 4 do contain student-written-work, and so they require both a teacher book and a student workbook.

Originally published along with First Language Lessons Level 1 as a single volume, Level 2 has been redesigned as a simple-to-use one-year program. Because of this, Level 2 does not review the concepts covered in Level 1. Students in 2nd grade who have not completed Level 1 should start here and, in 3rd grade, may move on to Level 3.

Additional Resources

Are your grammar skills a little rusty? If you didn’t have the benefit of a classical education that included instruction on how to diagram sentences (like the education your children are getting -those lucky ducks!); don’t fret! Stay a few steps ahead of the kids and be able to answer all their questions by adding The Grammar Guidebook and The Diagramming Dictionary to your library. They’re a great resource for all things grammar and the kids will get use of them in the coming years when they’re trying to write those college essays (Ack! It’s coming sooner than you think)!

Need Help?

If you are trying to decide between Level 1 and Level 2, you should begin a 1st or 2nd grader in Level 1. If you are trying to decide between Level 2 and Level 3 for a third grade student, you can begin in Level 3 because it reviews the concepts taught in both levels 1 and 2. Level 3 is appropriate for students in 3rd grade regardless of their level of prior grammar instruction.
