Beth Martin

Beth and her husband homeschooled their three children through graduation, a seventeen-year journey that brought both highs and lows, but one they do not regret! While Beth has a B.S.Ed. in Mathematics, the most helpful tools in her homeschool experience were prayer and determination. She has been on staff at SCAIHS since 2013 and loves sharing her triumphs and failures with other homeschoolers!

Beth Moore

Beth began her homeschool journey with her two children, Daniel and Samantha when their family moved to Columbia in 2006. She earned her Master's in Early Childhood from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she grew up. She has 25 years combined teaching experience in Public, Private and Homeschool teaching pre-school through Second Grade in private and public schools, classes for elementary and middle school homeschool co-ops, and graduating her own two children as homeschoolers. Her family enjoyed homeschooling, especially the memories made many on special field trips, history projects, and art camps. She is excited about continuing to work with home schoolers through SCAIHS. She enjoys activities with her church, book clubs, movies, and visiting out of town family and friends
Cathie Marshall

Cathie Marshall

Cathie comes to us fresh from 24 years of home-schooling, having home educated her four children through all ages and in all SCAIHS departments! Cathie studied architecture at Clemson University graduating with a B.A. in Design. She loves to talk about home schooling and looks forward to helping guide you as you home educate your children for God’s purposes.

Cris Richardson

Cris began her career journey as an educator in both private and public schools before making the choice to homeschool her own children in 2010. She has one recent SCAIHS graduate and continues to homeschool her other son in his high school years. Cris greatly values homeschooling for the opportunities it provides for academic excellence, character development, and strong family relationships. In her free time, Cris enjoys hiking, antiquing, and being with family.

Elise Edson

When Elise and her husband began their adventure of homeschooling the first of their four daughters in 1982, she had no idea that the journey would include homeschooling her own children for nearly 20 years, working at SCAIHS for 15 years, then helping to homeschool several of her grandchildren for another 12 years. Elise delights in how homeschooling has helped to foster close relationships with her children and grandchildren. Additionally, with her bachelor's degree in biology from the College of Charleston and an avid interest in science, she has led several homeschool science classes for middle and high school students. She is excited to be working at SCAIHS again and is committed to aiding parents with their goals of raising Godly children who can make a positive difference in this world.
Emily Lipscombe

Emily Lipscombe

Emily has served SCAIHS elementary families faithfully since joining our staff in June of 1994. After graduating from Columbia College with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, she worked as a classroom teacher for 10 years. As a result of this experience, she brings with her an abundance of professional knowledge and wisdom which she continues to use to benefit hundreds of homeschool families every year. Emily, serving as an Elementary Co-Director, finds great joy working with these families of younger students! She is also a piano teacher, a church pianist, and a passionate musician!
Jeannie Moody

Jeannie Moody

Jeannie is an NILD Professionally Certified Educational Therapist. She completed her M.Ed. in Exceptional Student Education/Educational Therapy through Southeastern University. She is a graduate of Erskine College with a degree in English. Prior to becoming a counselor with SCAIHS, Jeannie enjoyed traveling with her husband who played baseball professionally and raising her two sons. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time at the beach with family, watching sports with her husband, and spending time with friends.
Katie Marshall

Katie Marshall

Katie was homeschooled throughout her childhood and into her teen years. She graduated from Midlands Technical College with her associate degree. After helping launch the online bookstore in 2021, she is happy to be back at SCAIHS and be a part of helping homeschool families.
Katina Prescott

Katina Prescott

Katina Prescott is originally from central Vermont. She received her degree from North Greenville University where she met her husband. In 2004, she began her career in office administration at North Greenville University, and then at Southern Wesleyan University. Concerned about the quality of her daughter’s education, Katina began homeschooling in 2013. Due to her husband's declining health, Katina went back to work full-time while her husband homeschooled their two children. In 2015, Katina started working at SCAIHS, advancing to the role of Administrative Director. After her husband passed away in 2018, Katina enrolled her children in private school. In January of 2022, Katina began homeschooling again because of some challenges with her son who is on the spectrum. As a single homeschooling mom, working full-time, she has a special heart for helping SCAIHS families succeed.

After 23 years of being away from SCAIHS, Lisa returned to work for the Middle/High School department. Now with 5 years of homeschooling under her belt, she's enjoying the opportunity to assist the department in supporting home school parents again.
Louise Watts

Elementary Counselor

Louise Watts

Louise spent the past 16 years homeschooling her two children through SCAIHS. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Newberry College and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of SC. Her 30 years of teaching experience has allowed her to work with students from pre-K through college in homeschool, co-op, public school, and private school settings. She is excited to be working with families that are teaching elementary aged students. It is her favorite age group!
Mary Kaye Dickinson

Elementary Special Needs Counselor

Mary Kaye Dickinson

Mary Kaye has been a qualified NILD Educational Therapist since 2001, and a State Certified Teacher beginning in 1977. She is a graduate of the State University College at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/ Exceptional Education. During her 47-year career, she has had the opportunity to teach in public and private Christian schools in four different states, landing in South Carolina in 2007. She has also had the opportunity to homeschool three of her four children. Mary Kaye enjoys spending time with her nine grandchildren, traveling with her husband of 46 years, and practicing her conversational Spanish at Mexican restaurants. She remains grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to join the SCAIHS family as a counselor to encourage families on their homeschooling journeys and to be a part of the legacy established in 1990.

Paola Correa

Paola Correa is the mother of four beautiful children, whom she has homeschooled for the past 13 years. Two of them have graduated from SCAIHS, and she still continues to homeschool her two younger children. Accounting and Production Management are her previous endeavors for both architectural and printing companies. She loves encouraging and exhorting others in their homeschooling journey.
Rebecca Evans

Rebecca Evans

Rebecca has over 28 years of experience in education. She taught elementary students in grades 1-5 for most of her years in the public school sector. She also served as a Reading Interventionist, Gifted and Talented Educator, and Assistant Principal during those years. Recently retired, her greatest joy is now homeschooling her high school daughter alongside her husband. She has been homeschooling her daughter for 4 years and loves seeing the growth and confidence that homeschooling has provided students of this age group. She also works part time with an Upstate hybrid homeschool so she sees daily the benefits of homeschool education. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, watching her daughter show horses almost every weekend and baking.

Rebecca Pope

Rebecca homeschooled for two years and taught seventh through twelfth grade English for seven years prior to joining the SCAIHS staff in July of 2005. Rebecca enjoys working with families as they home school their middle and high school students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
Sonya West

Sonya West

Sonya is from southeastern Michigan. She attended Michigan State University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She began her career working for Gale Publishing Co. as well as the City of Detroit, Department of Human Services. She and her husband Kevin have been married since 2000 and are parents to seven beautiful children. Sonya began homeschooling her youngest three daughters in 2015 after becoming disenchanted with the education they were receiving. She enjoys reading, vacationing with her family, movie nights with Kevin and Bible study with her close friend. Sonya joined SCAIHS in February 2023, and is excited to serve the homeschool community.
Victoria Ambos

Victoria Ambos

Tori's career background is in education, where she spent 11 years as a lead classroom teacher in public and private school settings. During the fall of 2015, she and her husband began homeschooling their two children. With faith and prayer at the foundation, they homeschooled for 8 wonderful years through high school graduation. She is grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve as a SCAIHS Middle and High School Counselor. It brings her great joy to guide and encourage homeschool families, just as SCAIHS did for her family for many years.
