Beth and her husband homeschooled their three children through graduation, a seventeen-year journey that brought both highs and lows, but one they do not regret! While Beth has a B.S.Ed. in Mathematics, the most helpful tools in her homeschool experience were prayer and determination. She has been on staff at SCAIHS since 2013 and loves sharing her triumphs and failures with other homeschoolers!

Rebecca homeschooled for two years and taught seventh through twelfth grade English for seven years prior to joining the SCAIHS staff in July of 2005. Rebecca enjoys working with families as they home school their middle and high school students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family.

Cathie Marshall

Cathie comes to us fresh from 24 years of home-schooling, having home educated her four children through all ages and in all SCAIHS departments! Cathie studied architecture at Clemson University graduating with a B.A. in Design. She loves to talk about home schooling and looks forward to helping guide you as you home educate your children for God’s purposes.

After 23 years of being away from SCAIHS, Lisa returned to work for the Middle/High School department. Now with 5 years of homeschooling under her belt, she’s enjoying the opportunity to assist the department in supporting home school parents again.

Emily Lipscombe

Emily has been on staff since June of 1994. Having been a classroom teacher for ten years prior to coming on board, Emily now finds great joy serving and working with families home schooling their elementary students! She also has a passion for music and enjoys teaching piano and serving as pianist at her church!

Candace Sanders

Candace homeschooled her children for 11 years, graduating both, and credits her time at SCAIHS for much of their success.  She has also enjoyed teaching children of all ages at Excelsior Academy, Classical Conversations, and several co-ops in the Columbia area.  Candace attended the University of SC and is proud to share that distinction with her husband and two children.  She loves traveling, spending time with her family, and especially loves walking, biking, and listening to live music with her husband.  Candace is thrilled to be joining the SCAIHS team and helping families navigate their homeschool journeys.

Carol Kurlowich

After nearly 25 years of homeschooling, Carol is enjoying sharing her passion and rich years of experience with families of children who learn differently. Before earning her B.S. in elementary education, Carol discovered a heart for special learners through watching her younger brother struggle with learning differences. Many years later, the Kurlowich family was blessed with a daughter affected by Down Syndrome, opening one of the most exciting adventures of their lives!

Linda M. Dixon

Linda has served in private Christian education for over 30 years. Her extensive background includes elementary and high school teaching, guidance counseling, facilitating accommodations, and serving as the Director of the Guidance Department. She has joined the staff here at SCAIHS in February of 2020. Her passion is to help students become all that God has designed them to be. Linda and her husband, Dr. Larry Dixon, have been involved in serving the Lord their entire marriage, both in the States and overseas

Katina Prescott

Katina has been on staff since June 2015. With 6 years of experience homeschooling her two children she is finds joy in helping other homeschooling families.

Elementary Counselor

Louise Watts

Louise spent the past 16 years homeschooling her two children through SCAIHS. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Newberry College and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of SC. Her 30 years of teaching experience has allowed her to work with students from pre-K through college in homeschool, co-op, public school, and private school settings. She is excited to be working with families that are teaching elementary aged students. It is her favorite age group!

Debbie Peklenk

Debbie, along with her husband, homeschooled their 2 children after returning to the US from their sixteen years of overseas work. Having lived and worked in several countries as well as various regions of the US, she now enjoys helping support the administrative office here at SCAIHS.

Special Needs Counselor

Meredith Taylor

Meredith started her career as a special education teacher in the public-school setting. She has had the unique opportunity to teach in three states since then. Each state brought new perspectives and challenges. All the while, better sharpening her understanding of special education processes and procedures. Meredith is overjoyed to be joining the SCAIHS family. She desires to honor God in this position as she uses her knowledge and expertise to serve you and your family. Off the clock, you will find Meredith walking her dog, Bessie or traveling with her husband, Michael.

Middle and High School Counselor

Paola Correa

Paola Correa is the mother of four beautiful children, whom she has homeschooled for the past 13 years. Two of them have graduated from SCAIHS, and she still continues to homeschool her two younger children. Accounting and Production Management are her previous endeavors for both architectural and printing companies. She loves encouraging and exhorting others in their homeschooling journey.

Beth Moore

Beth began her homeschool journey with her two children, Daniel and Samantha when their family moved to Columbia in 2006. She earned her Master’s in Early Childhood from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she grew up. She has 25 years combined teaching experience in Public, Private and Homeschool teaching pre-school through Second Grade in private and public schools, classes for elementary and middle school homeschool co-ops, and graduating her own two children as homeschoolers. Her family enjoyed homeschooling especially the memories made many special field trips, history projects, and art camps. She is excited about continuing to work with home schoolers through SCAIHS. She enjoys activities with her church, book clubs, movies, and visiting out of town family and friends
