What Makes SCAIHS Different? Guidance for Parent-Directed Homeschooling
Share
SCAIHS supports parent-directed homeschooling through educational counseling, curriculum guidance and help with planning and records. Parents remain responsible for directing their child's education, while counselors help them think through educational decisions.
That relationship is the starting point for understanding SCAIHS support. It is not a promise that one organization will teach every lesson, remove every difficulty or be the right fit for every family.
Guidance that leaves parents in the teaching role
You choose curriculum and guide daily learning with counselor support. SCAIHS is not the curriculum provider and does not teach your child in your place.
For example, you might bring sample materials, recent work or a question about pacing to a conversation. Educational guidance can help you compare choices and decide what to investigate next.
If you are still comparing legal routes and service arrangements, our questions to ask when choosing homeschool support offer a starting framework.
Support as educational questions change
A family beginning elementary lessons may need help choosing materials or organizing a week. A family approaching high school may need to discuss course selection, prerequisites and graduation planning.
SCAIHS counselors provide educational guidance for these decisions. Parents can ask about their child's current work, proposed plan and the support relevant to their membership.
Our stage-by-stage support guide suggests concrete questions for different points in the homeschool years.
Records and documents with clear responsibilities
Full-member families can manage records through SCAIHS's online member system and request official transcripts through the current process. Parents still need to complete the records and follow the applicable instructions.
Transcript support is subject to SCAIHS records and payment requirements. SCAIHS issues diplomas to full-member seniors who fulfill its graduation requirements.
Auxiliary membership is different. Auxiliary students receive academic counseling, records, transcripts and diplomas from their qualifying private school. Confirm which membership arrangement applies before relying on a general service description.
Educational guidance for individual needs
Families may have questions about a learning difficulty, adapting materials or finding an appropriate educational approach. SCAIHS offers special-needs educational guidance and can discuss resources relevant to the student's situation.
Educational counseling does not replace clinical evaluation, diagnosis or treatment. Ask what support is available for the specific educational question rather than assuming a curriculum or accommodation is automatically provided.
A faith-informed relationship with practical help
SCAIHS is a Christian ministry whose work includes educational counseling and encouragement for homeschooling parents. That perspective informs the care offered as families make decisions about their children's education.
The practical questions still matter: what you will teach, how to approach it, which records to maintain and where to seek guidance. Support is most useful when its role and your responsibilities are clear.
