Tree-Ear, a homeless orphan boy in 12th-century Korea, breaks a beautiful ceramic pot. In order to repay his debt, Tree- Ear indentures himself to the gruff potter, Min. Tree-Ear begins to dream of someday becoming a potter. Undertaking a long and dangerous journey, Tree-Ear considers his dreams and their similarity to a single shard of perfect pottery.
