One thing to remember about morning routines is that they are just as effective for you as they are for your children. Remember, children model what their parents do. So, if you’re starting your morning these ways, they’ll be likely to follow suit. 

1. Create a Regular Sleeping Routine

A positive morning begins with what you do the night before. Getting enough sleep is critical for children. According to one study, everyone’s sleep quality and energy levels will be higher if they consistently sleep around the same time each night. 

2. Plan Your Day Ahead

Another thing you can do the night before is some prep for the day ahead. Everything will be less stressful if you can do some simple meal prep. Also, think about the lessons you’ll be teaching and any materials you might need. Consider scheduling your child’s bath time in the evenings so they have more time in the morning for other things.  

3. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Eating a healthy breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day. Instead of sugar-filled cereal, choose options like fruits, grains, and dairy products. 

4. Limit Screen Time

Limit distractions like televisions, video games, phones, and other devices in the morning whenever possible. Morning screen time can be very distracting and cause challenges for switch gears into learning time. If your children are ready early, they can spend that time on other things, like reading. 

5. Morning Exercise

Exercise is essential for people of every age. Whether you choose to take a morning walk with your children, have some outside playtime, or go for a bike ride, the fresh air and movement will be great for their bodies and minds. 

6. Make Time for Chores

Having your child do a set of daily chores in the morning is another way to get them moving. It also teaches them some responsibility and can instill some valuable life skills. 

7. Schedule Lesson Start Time

Finally, try to stick to a regular schedule for your homeschooling lessons. One of the benefits of homeschooling is the flexibility it gives you. But, when you’re at home, a regular routine will be healthy for your child.
