Financial Aid Basics
Considering the options available to assist students with the cost of college can be overwhelming. The goal of this session is to help prospective college students and families understand the different types of financial aid available and some general steps necessary to receive that aid.
Topics covered will include:
- Considering cost and assessing value
- Understanding categories of aid
- The four main sources of aid
- How colleges determine financial need
- The steps to applying for and receiving aid
- FAFSA basics
Michael Sapienza currently works for College Raptor as a consultant to colleges on issues related to financial aid and admissions and has previously served as a financial aid administrator on three different campuses. He lives in Columbia with his wife, Claudia, who is a professional photographer and two children who are homeschooled and attend Arrows Academy.
